About my certifications
AND BACKGROUND
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion. Now, you may be asking yourself, “What does that even mean?” and that’s a good question. Health Promotion is a very broad term. It meant an overall Health Education degree with an emphasis on Community Health and Exercise Prescription. It encompassed every passion I had. The need to help people, the want to be within the Fitness Community and to improve myself.
About me
Throughout the years, I have always stayed active in the Fitness Community but my “career” did not take me in that direction. After several setbacks to my career, I decided to refocus on my original passion of Fitness. I received my Personal Training Certification through The American College of Sports Medicine. This organization is the go-to for research in health and I wanted to have the best of the best.
After receiving this certification, I realized that my thought process in regards to fitness was more than just exercise. I then became a Holistic Lifestyle Coach through the CHEK Institute. This certification educated me on a multitude of information regarding overall health and well-being. Specifically, this certification gave me a lot of information in regards to Chakras and how these different Chakras can be activated and relieved in several ways. Through exercise but also through mental health.
With learning about these Chakra levels, it created a passion for yoga that I was able to explore. I then became a certified Yoga Instructor and have incorporated the exercises within Yoga into my training for clients. I always suggest clients to experience Yoga at least once a week if they are able.
My passion for becoming a Personal Trainer has come from many different avenues. I began this journey 15 years ago because of my own experience with the gym. I walked into the gym at my university and was completely overwhelmed and intimidated. My joy comes from clients who have these same feelings and assisting them with becoming comfortable in the gym and with exercise.
With this in mind, I want to encourage women to take over the weight floor. I want to arm you with the knowledge to not be intimidated by the people you may see. I want to educate you on gym etiquette and how to use the equipment that is available to you. I want you to take this knowledge to your friends and family. It’s called “Physical Education by Zak” because I want to educate you so you have the education that you need to be successful.
Education leads to independence. Personal training can be expensive. You are paying for a gym membership and then paying over $100/hour session with a personal trainer at that gym. I want to be affordable and available to answer questions that you have. I want to create a workout program that EMPOWERS you to take charge of the change you want to see. I want to start those building blocks needed to be an improved “you”.
My client experience ranges from 18-80 years old and all gender identities. I want to build your confidence, education, and impact on the world around you.
